Arsenal’s summer transfer plans have hit a snag after Leandro Trossard’s agent admitted the Belgian winger has yet to make a final call on his future. The Gunners, who sit top of the Premier League with 85 points, could see their £35m move for Christos Tzolis thrown into doubt if Trossard stays.

What’s happening with Trossard?

Trossard, 31, was set to join Besiktas for around €18m (£15.3m) after personal terms were agreed. A deal was expected to be finalised after the World Cup, but his agent Dirk Hebel told Sky in Germany that no decision has been made yet. Hebel confirmed Besiktas did everything possible to sign Trossard, but the player is still weighing his options — including staying at Arsenal.

Trossard scored eight goals for Arsenal last season as they claimed the Premier League title, while also netting twice in Belgium’s run to the World Cup quarter-finals. His future now hangs in the balance, with Hebel stating: “Leandro has all the offers on the table and will make his decision soon.”

How Trossard’s future affects Arsenal’s £35m Tzolis deal

Arsenal’s planned replacement for Trossard is Greek forward Christos Tzolis, whose £35m deal with Club Brugge was already agreed. The 24-year-old scored 22 goals last season, making him an ideal candidate to step into Trossard’s role. But if Trossard stays, Arsenal’s move for Tzolis could collapse — leaving Arteta’s side scrambling for a Plan B.

Arsenal’s attack has already fired in 71 goals this season, with a +44 goal difference, and sit seven points clear of Manchester City. Their unbeaten run of four wins and a draw in the last five games keeps them on track for back-to-back titles.

Arsenal’s other transfer targets in flux

Arsenal’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez is also in limbo. The Gunners are competing with Barcelona for the Argentine forward, with Barca president Joan Laporta confirming their offer has a deadline. “We’ve made an offer that isn’t unlimited,” Laporta said. “The validity of this offer is not unlimited.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s move for Bruno Guimaraes is no longer certain. Reports suggested he could be available for around £50m, but the deal now appears off the table.

Arsenal’s next fixture is an away clash with Girona on August 1, 2026, as they aim to extend their lead at the top. Their recent form — four wins and a draw in the last five — keeps them on course for a second straight Premier League crown, with 85 points and a seven-point gap over Manchester City.
