Arsenal striker Ceadach O'Neill has committed his international future to Northern Ireland after being named in their latest squad. The selection for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures appears to end a potential tug-of-war with the Republic of Ireland.
Manager Michael O'Neill included the 20-year-old forward in his group for matches away to Georgia on 25 September and at home to Hungary on 28 September. Further Nations League games follow in October. O'Neill, who joined Arsenal from Linfield in 2024, made substitute appearances for Northern Ireland in June friendlies against Guinea and France. Playing in two more competitive matches would permanently tie him to the nation.
"The future of potential Ireland player Ceadach O’Neill appears to be decided, after the Arsenal player has been named in Michael O’Neill’s latest Northern Ireland squad ahead of the Uefa Nations League fixtures," said the Northern Ireland manager. The young forward has shown promise in Arsenal's setup, featuring in pre-season squads and getting game time against Real Betis at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin last summer. He is the nephew of former Derry GAA star Eoin Bradley.
His club side are in superb form, sitting first in the Premier League with 12 points from four wins. They face a tough test next against fifth-placed Brighton on Saturday, 19 September.
