David Raya has won the Premier League Save of the Month award for September for his key penalty stop against Sunderland. The Arsenal goalkeeper's save from Enzo Le Fee's spot-kick kept the score level before Bruno Guimaraes scored the opening goal just two minutes later in a 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light.
Raya was also voted the league's Player of the Matchweek for that performance, receiving 26% of the fan vote ahead of Mohamed Belloumi on 23%. He is the second Arsenal player to win the weekly award this season after Martin Odegaard. The Spaniard's all-round display was vital, with his expert handling of set-pieces and precise distribution helping to secure the three points.
"Want to watch the incredible stop again? Check it out below!" Raya said.
The win over Sunderland is part of a strong start that sees Arsenal sitting second in the Premier League with 12 points from five games. Their recent form reads four wins and one loss from the last five matches. The Gunners' next challenge is a home fixture against fifth-placed Leeds United on 10 October.
