Arsenal’s Yildiz pursuit stalls
Arsenal’s summer transfer window saw the club pursue a new striker after already bringing in Greek winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. The Gunners were keen on Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, but the Italian side has made it clear that they will not sell the 21-year-old.
Juventus hold firm
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti told reporters that Arsenal could offer whatever they like for Yildiz, but the club will keep him. Yildiz signed a contract extension in February that runs until 2030. He scored 11 goals in 47 Serie A appearances last season and was named the league’s Rising Star of the Season.
Spalletti added that Yildiz is a mature player who knows he does not need to rush his future. “We are convinced we can show the total potential of Kenan, and he is a potential phenomenon of football,” he said.
Arsenal’s other options
Arsenal’s search for a new forward was also driven by the loss of Gabriel Martinelli, who was left out of the squad for a recent match. The club had earlier targeted Vinicius Junior, but the Brazilian chose to stay at Real Madrid and signed a new contract there.
The outcome
With Juventus refusing to sell Yildiz, Arsenal’s transfer window continues to look uncertain. The club will need to decide whether to focus on other targets or wait for a different opportunity.
