Bukayo Saka became Arsenal's second-highest European goalscorer in a commanding 3-0 Champions League victory over Lille at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. The win extends the Gunners' unbeaten start in the group phase and keeps them third in the early standings.

Jurriën Timber broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, finishing from close range after an assist from Noni Madueke. Eberechi Eze doubled the lead just three minutes later, set up by Saka, before the England winger completed the scoring himself in the 71st minute with a strike assisted by Kai Havertz.

Saka's goal was his 19th in European competition for Arsenal, moving him past legends like Dennis Bergkamp and Robin van Persie. Only Thierry Henry, with 42, now stands ahead of him. The 25-year-old also has nine Champions League assists, a tally bettered only by Henry and Cesc Fabregas in the club's history. His form is a key reason Arsenal sit second in the Premier League with 15 points from six games.

Despite providing the assist for the opening goal, Noni Madueke's overall performance drew criticism from some supporters online. The winger, making his first Champions League start of the campaign, lost possession 21 times and completed only one of his three attempted dribbles before being substituted after 65 minutes. One fan posted on social media, "Madueke has mastered the art to look promising with every moment he has the ball but the output is more often poor than better."

Manager Mikel Arteta made a triple change around the hour mark, introducing Havertz, Martin Odegaard and Saka, which sparked the decisive seven-minute, three-goal burst. Lille failed to register a single shot on target, with David Raya equalling David Seaman's club record of 38 Champions League appearances with a clean sheet.

The result means Arsenal have won their last 14 Champions League group stage games and kept nine clean sheets in that run. They now turn their attention back to the Premier League title race, where they are three points behind leaders Manchester City. Their next match is away to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 18 October.
